So, the NBA trade deadline came and went last thursday, and some expectations happened like Cleveland getting Antawn Jamison, some expectations didn't happen like Amare Stoudamire staying in Phoenix; but something unexpected happened and that was Tracy McGrady going to New York.
Finally, Knick fans... the front office has done something good!
This is the best roster move management has made in a long time. Although, McGrady has been hobbled by injuries the past two seasons, he can still give you 20 points (as shown in his first game as Knicks) and is a potential 30 point scorer. Along with David Lee, it could be an exciting two month finish to the season.
Also, this is just a small piece in a bigger picture.
After this trade, the Knicks have only four players on their roster for next season, with just over $32 million in cap space for the upcoming off-season. That space will allow the Knicks to sign two max contracts (Lebron James and Stoudamire). Then, if the McGrady experiment works out, Knick fans are looking at a starting line-up of McGrady at the two, James at the three and Stoudamire at the four.
That's a scary thought, but, hopefully, the Knicks can finish the job this off-season and create a sweet dream or beautiful nightmare of a roster.
