I cant believe what I'm seeing. Game is going back to Aftermath Records. It seems like only yesterday Game couldn't even get Dr. Dre or Eminem in the studio to do a song, and now Game's next album may be distributed through Aftermath.
Well, in case people don't remember, Aftermath happens to have one of Game's biggest rivals under their umbrella, 50 Cent. Mr. Get Rich or Die Tryin' was the main reason Dr. Dre and Eminem wouldn't work with Game.
Why the sudden change of heart? Over the last four years, both of Game's albums have sold to platinum status, while 50 Cent can barely get a gold plague, and for other artists under 50 Cent's G-Unit label, its been flop (Tony Yayo) after flop (Lloyd Banks) after flop (G-Unit T.O.S.). The signing of Game to Aftermath is a way for Dr. Dre and Eminem to get back to the top of the rap industry; the same spot 50 Cent lead them to eight years ago.
Also, in the video "Forever" featuring Eminem that premiered last year, other top free agents can be seen standing behind Eminem. The supergroup Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9 and Crooked I) is in the background as if to say this partnership between us and Aftermath is forever.
This is the same thing that goes on sports all the time. When a star player cant get the job done anymore, management goes out and tries to find other players who will. So, hate it or love it, Game is replacing 50 Cent and Slaughterhouse is replacing G-Unit. Add in the fact that 50 Cent's contract has expired with Aftermath, and it seems as though 50 Cent will be crying straight to another label.
