President Barack Obama addressed Congress to introduce the American Jobs Act. The purpose of the bill is to put more people back into the workforce.

Consider it a "Stimulus Package: The Sequel".

The package will cost about $447 million; and it will be paid for from a deficit-reduction plan President Obama will announce on September 19. The deficit reduction plan would reform the tax system to end loopholes, lower the corporate tax rate and increase taxes for the wealthy.

President Obama urged Congress to pass this bill immediately. He said that the policies in the plan are things that both Democrats and Republicans have agreed upon in the past.

"There should be nothing controversial about this piece of legislation," said President Obama. "Everything in here is the kind of proposal that's been supported by both Democrats and Republicans -- including many who sit here tonight. And everything in this bill will be paid for. Everything."

President Obama put emphasis on wanting to stop the bickering between the Democrats and Republicans and "actually do something to help the economy."

"The people of this country work hard to meet their responsibilities," said President Obama. "The question tonight is whether we’ll meet ours. The question is whether, in the face of an ongoing national crisis, we can stop the political circus.

The question is whether we can restore some of the fairness and security that has defined this nation since our beginning."

The audience seemed receptive and positive to the things President Obama was saying; however, when the republicans plan of action was mentioned, there was an obvious elongated applause.

Democrats and Republicans always have a different way of thinking. Earlier this summer, their procrastination in agreeing on whether to raise the national deficit ceiling resulted in America's credit rating being lowered for the first time in history to AA+, from top-tier AAA.
