Tonight is the opening night for the baseball season. Usually when baseball season starts, the defending champs are on their home field. The team gets their rings during an opening ceremony that also involves raising a banner in their stadium. For as long as I have been watching the MLB that is how its been done.
So,when the New York Yankees win the title, why don't they get the opportunity to to do the same thing in front of their hometown fans?
I knew that the whole country hates the Yankees for their dominance every year, but I had no idea the suits that run the baseball felt the same way. Whoever make the schedules needs to be investigated because I see something wrong with theYankees schedule for this season.
The Yankees play two road series to open their season(against the Red Sox and the Rays) and only play seven homes in the month of April. The New York fans are going to have to wait for until the second week of the season to see their teams banner waving in the stadium. That is unfair.
I remember when Boston won their titles. Not only did they open at home for both seasons, but they opened against the Yankees at home after their first title. That is how a champion is suppose to be treated.
It's clear that everyone from fans to other team owners to MLB executives hate the evil empire but thats okay. My empire state of mind is telling me that they will win title again this year. Maybe then we could get some respect.
