Players like LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook were cut from the Chargers and Eagles, respectively. Players like these two never get the chance to finish their careers with the teams that drafted them into the league. Things like this are far too common in the NFL.

Unlike the NBA and MLB, where a player can actually play in one city for an entire career, the NFL seems to determine that a player, especially running backs, at a certain age cannot be productive or contribute to the team. The same team that they served for over a decade.

Its a shame that the NFL doesn't honor the very people that helped make their franchise great. For the short amount the team gives players, Tomlinson won an NFL MVP award, set the record for the most touchdowns in a season, and broke every rushing record in chargers team history. Westbrook set the record for most yards from scrimmage for a player in Eagles history, set the rushing record for the Eagles and helped lead the Eagles to the Superbowl in 2004.

If a player in the NBA or MLB did anything equivalent to what these two have done, that player would be enshrined in that teams hall-of-fame and be the face of the franchsie for 15 or 20 years.

The NFL needs to get their priorities in order and stop treating their players like they're just property that can just be traded and cut at will.
